Sojourn on this Solstice
Thursday, June 21st, 2007
Hear, hear. Today be the first day of summer. And so I’m off to enjoy the day. The week. And what a day, and what a week it will be.
Over here I rest on the precipice of something great. Vancouver’s Jazz Fest. A people’s festival to give praise to ye old gods. Venus. Neptune. Saturn (…and the like.) And it shalt be one damn fine time, I anticipate. Strap up my camera, slap up some sunscreen (I hope), clap up some hands and we’ll head out in wonder.
There will be improvisation. Yessah! There will be twinges of the blues. And there’ll be funk. And Afrobeat too. Some vinyl scratch. Ahh, to solve that glorious itch — some soul — I need a fix. And hoohaw, it will most certainly be great.
I’m traveling! I am a man walking. Gastown. Granville Island. Yaletown. Granville Street. Canada Place. Oh, Canada.
This Vancouver peninsula has never seemed so great, and across this vast land there will be brunch and lunch. And dunch. Dinner, uh-huh! Drinks, hells yes. Some party. Some shaking of bootay. Cheers! and Prost! and Kampei! and Saluté! À Votre Santé, too. I anticipate good times with some great friends.
And in between all this festivity?
Simplicity. Offline, to be. Just to be. I want to skate. Walk in sand. Lounge by the water. Throw down my breast stroke. And breathe sea air whilst counting clouds slow….ly.
See some of you tomorrow, this weekend, next week. See the rest of youse very very soon.
Jase
